Philip May, representing Equinix, delivered a keynote on empowering the WA Government through future-ready, AI-supported cloud access. He highlighted the challenges agencies face with disparate data sets spread across different locations and cloud providers, and explained how high-speed interconnections and data locality are essential to enabling efficient AI training.

May emphasised that training models closer to where the data resides improves speed and accuracy, while also reducing complexity. He noted that agencies can accelerate their AI journey by adopting pre-trained models and tailoring them with their own data, striking the right balance between cost, time, and skills.

Ultimately, he underlined that modernising government structures for AI and cloud is about building scalable, flexible, and resilient foundations to support the future of public service delivery.
